Mr. Layton holds a Masters degree in Supply Chain Management from The Pennsylvania State University  and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Management Information Systems from Northern Arizona University. He joined Andersen Consulting (Accenture) as a management consultant in 1982 and spent many formidable years as a wholesale and retail distribution industry management consultant specializing in the design, development and deployment of advanced warehousing and supply chain management systems. He is a recognized leader in the utilization of technology in business and a pioneer in the digital commerce industry.

His leadership, entrepreneurial fire, broad based financial skills, and years of practical management experience have shown him to be one of the top senior executives in the digital commerce industry today. He is a highly sought public speaker. His energy and style have entertained tens of thousands of business professionals and college students over the years on wide ranging issues including web commerce trends, successful leadership attributes, technology trends, supply chain management, customer contact centers, financial management, and Christian principles applied in the business world.

In addition to Mr. Layton’s deep experience in Supply Chain management, he is also recognized  as a leading digital commerce & Omnichannel authority & pioneer having authored the book .com’s or bomb’s … Strategies for profit in e-Business  where his vision of the future of the web commerce world was accurately portrayed and predicted. Layton currently serves as a Professor of Supply Chain Management at The Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University. He also serves as the strategist & management consultant and is founder and CEO of 7 Seven Advisors.

Mr. Layton is the Founder and former Chairman, & Chief Executive Officer of PFSweb Inc. (Nasdaq: PFSW). PFSweb is a global leader and outsourcing services provider, offering end to end (e2e) digital commerce solutions for the world’s  most iconic brands like Procter & Gamble, Starbucks, Lego, kate spade, Wilson Sports, Kraft Foods, L’Oreal and many more. PFSweb is a leading integrator on the best in class eCommerce software platforms including Demandware, ATG & Websphere.

Mr. Layton joined Daisytek, Inc. in 1988 as Vice President of Operations and Director. He was appointed Executive Vice President in 1990, President and Chief Operating Officer in 1993, CEO in 1997 and Chairman in 1999. In 1999 Mr. Layton also became Chairman, President and CEO of PFSweb, Inc. which he founded as subsidiary of Daisytek in 1994. Mr. Layton has served as an Associate Editor for the Center for Cycle Time Research at the University of Memphis, currently serves on the National Advisory Board at the Northern Arizona University (NAU) W. A. Franke College of Business (CBA) and as a board member of the NAU Foundation. The NAU CBA honored Mr. Layton as an outstanding Centennial Alumnus in 1997 and enshrined him into the Northern Arizona University W. A. Franke CBA “Hall of Fame“ in 2003. Mr. Layton serves as an independent board director for Johnstone Supply and has served on the public boards of Daisytek, PFSweb, Ubid, Inc. and PC Mall and on the private boards of various for profit and non-profit entities.

Mr. Layton is married, has four children and is an avid sportsman enjoying time playing golf, tennis, ice hockey and racquetball. Mr. Layton is also actively involved in the DFW youth community serving as a youth ice hockey coach. In 2010 Mr. Layton earned his certification as a level 5 Master Coach as recognized by USA Hockey. Mr. Layton also holds active certification as a Ski Instructor by the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA).
